GENERAL
What is Kama Flight?
Kama Flight is a playful partnered movement practice that strengthens your relationship to self and others. Blending partner dance, yoga, and Thai massage, it helps develop relational flow through our four core principles — Presence, Permission, Polarity, and Play. See our Safety Standards page.
Who is Kama Flight for?
Anyone looking to deepen their connection — whether with a friend, partner, or themselves. No prior experience in yoga or dance is needed, and all identities and orientations are welcome. All in-person experiences require participants to be 21 or older (see Physical Readiness).
Who can participate in Kama Flight?
Kama Flight is designed for couples, friends, and movement lovers of all ages 21+ and physical abilities. Our instructors modify movements to meet you where you are — see Physical Readiness.
Do I need any special equipment for Kama Flight?
For most sessions, no special equipment is needed beyond comfortable clothing and an open space — see our What to Wear guide. Kama Flight is practiced on a massage table; Kama Floor is practiced on a mat or soft flooring and needs no table at all.
Do I need a partner to practice Kama Flight?
Yes, Kama Flight is a partnered practice. You can pair with a friend, lover, or anyone you trust and feel safe with. We encourage all relationship types — not just romantic ones.
How does Kama Flight benefit my relationship?
Kama Flight fosters communication, trust, and mutual support through its unique blend of movements and exercises. Couples often find that practicing together strengthens their connection and brings a new level of fun and intimacy to their relationship.
Is Kama Flight safe?
Safety is built into every session through four things: certified instructors, defined no-fly zones (chest, inner thighs, and buttocks are off-limits in every format), structured consent check-ins throughout each session, and a sobriety requirement. Full details are on our Safety Standards, Code of Conduct, and Consent & Boundaries pages.
How do I sign up for Kama Flight?
You can sign up through our website, KamaFlight.com. Choose the experience that suits you best, and follow the instructions for registration. Questions? Email info@kamaflight.com.
How do I find a Kama Flight teacher or class near me?
Please visit our Find a Class page or subscribe to our newsletter (link in footer) for updates on classes, workshops, and trainings in your area.
Can Kama Flight help with stress?
Yes. Kama Flight combines physical activity with mindfulness practices, making it an effective way to relieve stress. The focus on connection and support provides an added emotional benefit.
What should I wear to a Kama Flight session?
Fitted, flexible athletic wear — leggings and fitted tops move with you, while loose fabric can catch during scoops, hooks, and lifts. Bare feet are preferred for the best grip. Full guidance is on our What to Wear page.
Can I organize a private Kama Flight session for a special occasion?
Yes — we offer Private Lessons, which can be customized for anniversaries, engagements, or a unique date night. Contact us at info@kamaflight.com to arrange one. Cancellations for Private Lessons are handled at the instructor's discretion — see our Refund Policy.
Can I practice Kama Flight solo?
While Kama Flight is a partnered practice, solo prep like stretching, breathwork, and learning theory can be done alone. You can also explore role preparation for Base or Voyager on your own.
Are Kama Flight classes gender-specific or role-specific?
No. Roles are based on energy dynamics — Base (grounded, guiding) and Voyager (receptive, expressive) — not gender. We invite everyone to explore both roles over time. See Safety Standards.
SAFETY & BOUNDARIES
What are the Four Principles Kama Flight is built on?
Presence, Permission, Polarity, and Play. They're taught on day one of every Teacher Training and repeated in every class — full explanation on our Safety Standards page.
What are the "no-fly zones"?
The chest, inner thighs, and buttocks are off-limits in every sequence, in every format. See Consent & Boundaries.
How does consent work during a session?
Consent is ongoing, not one-time — instructors and partners check in before every touch and every transition, and either partner can pause, modify, or stop at any point, for any reason. See Consent & Boundaries.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes — all in-person experiences require participants to be 21 or older. See Physical Readiness.
How long should a Kama Flight session last?
A typical partnered exchange is 5–15 minutes. We recommend no more than 90 minutes of practice in a day without breaks.
Classes are 1 hour. Workshops are 90 minutes to 2 hours. Jams are 1 to 3 hours.
How often should we practice Kama Flight?
This varies by schedule and goals, but many couples find that practicing once a week lets them continuously build skills and deepen their connection.
What if I have a physical limitation or injury?
Consult a healthcare provider before beginning any new physical activity, including Kama Flight. Always disclose injuries or limitations to your instructor before a session begins so movements can be modified — see Physical Readiness.
What do I need to practice Kama Flight at home?
A massage table, comfortable clothing, a clean and safe space, and your practice partner. Our Kama At Home course guides you step by step.
IN-PERSON EXPERIENCES & MODALITIES
Is Kama Flight a YOGA ALLIANCE®-recognized modality?
Yes! Kama Flight Teacher Training is officially registered as a YACEP course.
Participants earn the following YOGA ALLIANCE® Continuing Education Credits:
- 12 hours for Techniques, Training, and Practice (Contact)
- 10 hours for Teaching Methodology (Contact)
- 8 hours for Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics (Non-contact)
What experiences are available?
We offer online guided sequences (Kama At Home), in-person Classes, Workshops, and Jams, and Teacher Training. Formats span beginner to advanced levels.
Explain the different formats: Class, Workshop, Jam
Class — A 1-hour, structured session led by a certified instructor, focused on a specific flow (5–7 moves). Best for those who've already attended a Workshop.
Workshop — A 2-hour immersive deep-dive covering 20+ foundational moves. Best for newcomers going from zero to their first flow.
Jam — An open, informal, community-led space for freestyle practice with minimal structure, facilitated check-ins, and peer-led exploration. Best for intermediate-to-advanced practitioners or newcomers attending with an experienced partner.
All formats are led under our published Safety Standards — see also Teacher Standards.
Explain the different modalities: Kama Flight vs. Kama Floor
Kama Flight (table-based)
Practiced on a massage table. One partner (Voyager) is elevated; the other (Base) is seated or standing beside. Allows for greater leverage, deeper backbends, and gravity-assisted stretches. Best for structured training, classes, and postural-transition flows.
Kama Floor (mat-based)
Practiced on the ground. Both Base and Voyager stay grounded, with softer contact and floor-based sequences. More accessible and a gentler entry point — ideal for beginners or sessions without a table.
A water-based format, Kama Float, is currently in development and not yet available to book.
Should I try Kama Flight or Kama Floor?
Choose Kama Floor if you want:
- Ease of access — no table needed, just a mat and a willing partner
- A grounded, gentler experience, especially if you're newer to partner work
- Lower physical demand, especially for Bases
Best for: beginners, relaxed home sessions, or anyone without access to a table.
Choose Kama Flight if you want:
- A more dynamic, structured practice with elevation and deeper energetic exchange
- Access to full-body stretches and advanced postures
- To train in flow, polarity, and improvisation
Best for: intermediate to advanced practitioners, or anyone seeking deeper embodiment and flow.
Explain the roles of "Base" and "Voyager"
Every session involves two complementary roles, chosen — not assigned by gender.
The Base: Structure + Support
The Base leads: provides structure, stability, and direction; checks in regularly about touch, pace, and pressure.
The Voyager: Receptivity + Expression
The Voyager receives: practices surrender, expression, and attuned responsiveness; shares feedback and evolving boundaries throughout.
Either partner can request to switch roles, change partners, or sit out a sequence at any point — see Consent & Boundaries.
Which ticket type is right for me?
Base ticket — instruction focused on leading and supporting.
Voyager ticket — instruction focused on receiving and expressive movement.
Duo ticket — a discounted rate for two people attending together, with flexibility to alternate or stay in fixed roles.

COMMON CONCERNS, ANSWERED
How does the Base (the partner giving the lift, etc.) benefit?
Partnered movement — including lifts — builds communication, trust, and teamwork for both partners. If the Base doesn't feel confident supporting the Voyager's weight, it's crucial not to attempt the lift; many of Kama Flight's 20+ foundational moves involve no lifting at all.
This looks like it would only work for very specific body types.
Kama Flight is built on mutual support and trust and welcomes all body types. Participants should be reasonably free from injury and comfortable giving and receiving touch — beyond that, countless moves strengthen connection without any lifting at all.
Do I need prior experience in yoga or dance?
Not at all. Kama Flight is accessible to all levels — you just need a willingness to move, connect, and explore.
Is this a romantic or sensual practice?
No. Kama Flight is about energetic and emotional connection — not performance or sexuality. See our Code of Conduct for our no-solicitation policy.
Can I switch roles during a class or course?
Absolutely. We encourage partners to explore both roles over time to build empathy, flexibility, and full-body awareness.
Can women lift or Base?
Yes — every certified instructor is trained to perform the Base role, regardless of gender.
